    01.08.2009 - GEDORE 1993 GU-10 XL – Swivel-head ratchet, extra long

    A new product in the GEDORE range is the 1993 GU-10 XL ratchet. It has been specially developed for use in commercial-vehicle and industrial applications, and is manufactured in Germany.

    The swivel head allows the ½” drive ratchet to swing vertically through 180°. The working angle of the ratchet itself is 11.25°. At a total length of 600 mm, it is ideal for use in hard-to-reach areas. The length of the ratchet gives a long lever, enabling binding bolts to be released with little effort. In contrast to bolts used in stationary equipment, such as on machines and in cabinets, bolts on commercial vehicles are subjected to extreme dirt and contamination. Constant vibration allows dirt to penetrate into the threads, creating binding.

    An important technical feature of the ratchet is the changeover mechanism, which automatically engages for clockwise or anti-clockwise turning when the lever is activated. With the lever in the central position, the ratchet is locked. Pushbutton release with a ball lock facilitates easy, secure fitting and release of manually operated square-drive sockets and adapters, ensuring that the adapters are always securely attached – a particularly important feature when working in sensitive areas, such as on open engines.

    Manufactured from high-grade GEDORE chrome-plated vanadium steel 31CrV3 and designed for a maximum torque of 600 Nm, the ratchet is cable of handling extremely high forces.
