NATA Abbreviation for the Australian calibration service. DKD and NATA recognise one another through the EAL treaty, so that the use of torque tools with a NATA certificate is fully acceptable in Germany from the testing technology point of view.
National standard The national standard embodies the most accurately-available implementation within a given country of the unit of the International System of Units (SI). Responsible for the representation and promotion of the units in Germany is the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) (Physical Technical Institution) in Braunschweig, more accurately the DKD. Comparable international standards are for example UKAS/NAMAS (England), PRORE (Italy), COFRAC (France), ÖKD (Austria), NATA (Australia) BKO (Belgium) DANAK (Denmark), SCS (Switzerland) etc.
Newton Newton, Sir Isaac, English Physician, Mathematician and Astronomer, *1643, †1727.
One of the greatest naturalists in history. Named after him is the SI unit of force (symbol N); Force = Mass x acceleration (1 N = 1 kg x m/s²).
Newton-metre SI unit for torque (symbol N·m). SI unit for force = Newton; SI unit for path/length = Metre. Torque = Force x path (also Newton x Metre). The unit of torque is accordingly referred to in Newton-metres (N·m).
Notching Complete cutting process in which surface parts are cut out from the inner or outer form of a workpiece along an open cutting line at two edge sections
